My Story
“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” -Socrates.
I live by this quote, as it ignites my passion for learning and growing.
I grew up building anything I could get my hands on. In high school my interest was always in architecture. I found architecture to be the perfect balance of art and math. Architecture is timeless. It is all about problem solving using a combination of creativity and analytics. In the process I began designing furniture (in the portfolio if you are interested), and then products. I loved products. It was architecture but fast paced and highly iterative. Product Design was the logical next step. After a rigorous summer of design thinking exploration at IDEO’s summer bootcamp….I landed at the d.School.
The d.school at Stanford was life-changing. It was a place of collaboration. A place of problem solving. A place of products. This is where everything clicked and I was a part of connecting products and people and diving into how people interact with all the products we use. The d.School allowed me to establish an academic structure for product design and implementation. It was at the d.School that I met my business partner, Matt Kasner, and we set off on our first product journey.
Senior year, Matt brought an idea to me based on his D-1 football experience. Even in the context of the premier collegiate athletic program in the country, there was no way to attach resistance bands functionally and safely to your feet to utilize resistance in 360 degrees of motion. Seems simple and obvious. It was not. Several years later, what started as a simple but common customer problem is now Finesse, a lifestyle and fitness company combining the elegance of a carefully crafted, curated, and packaged product suite with a uniquely customizable content platform.
While building Finesse, we have encountered and worked through just about every business obstacle including manufacturers delays, investor complications, marketing firm flops, scams, you name it. With four years of product design to mass market domain expertise with business partners, company relationships, and influencers, I am enthusiastic about new groundbreaking products, people, companies and opportunities to dive in to.
